sanctuary
a winter somatic practice group
Jan 11th - Feb 22nd
on zoom
Winter is a time for deep rest and nourishment.
But for so many of us, surrendering to rest can be an uncomfortable process. The constant pace of capitalism and productivity culture keeps us going, going. Maybe we are holding stories in our bodies that we are afraid to confront if we slow down.
I want to invite you into a cozy space where we can practice rest together. Where we can begin to unwind and slow down into our bodies, and into the moment. Where we can touch some of the poetic beauty that lives within darkness, and the gifts that winter gives us.
As the nights grow shorter and it literally becomes darker outside, we can gently stretch our capacity to be with darkness, as a teacher and source of creative and fertile inspiration. We can embrace the time of resting, dreaming and becoming more intimate with the rhythms and pace of our animal body. We can follow pleasure as our guide and compass.
In this 4 part series, I will be drawing upon my training in Somatic Experiencing, a science backed modality for relieving stress + trauma and supporting the nervous system,
as well as my creative practice as a poet
and deep devotion to pleasure
to support you in finding more ease + stability in your body and creative flow + inspiration during the winter months in a cozy community oriented space.

about your guide
Hi! I’m Rosalie. I’m a poet, beekeeper, somatic student and sensualist.
After being a super intense spiritual-growth-explorer and burning out my nervous system in the process, I found my way to Somatics, which deeply changed my life and helped me to experience so much ease, stability and aliveness.
Currently I am in the process of becoming Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, but I also draw from 8+ years of embodiment work, now with a more trauma informed focus :)
As a poet and creative, I am inspired and deeply moved by my experiences of grief and loss and the creative gifts of our wounds, as well as the sweet honey of alchemy + pleasure that can come from them.

I am not a licensed therapist and this group is not a substitute for therapy! This will be more of a supportive space to engage in practices together to help us find more ease, rest and coherence.

The main modality I will be drawing from is Somatic Experiencing, a term coined by Peter Levine but I should note is not new and shares roots with many Indigenous practices. Somatics is an umbrella term that refers to practices that focus on the body, and are usually bottom up - which means they start with focusing on the body’s sensations instead of a mental analysis. Somatic Experiencing holds the belief that the body is naturally oriented towards healing + wellbeing, if we can create the right space and conditions for it to do so.
I will also be drawing on my background of sensual embodiment practices, my experience as an artist/poet and facilitator of many modalities
